As we put the final preparations in place for this year’s race, we’ll be sharing “26 Tips for 26.2 Miles” to make sure you’re ready to go on race day. Click here to read them all, or follow along on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
There may be an age limit for who can participate in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, but that doesn’t mean the youngsters can’t join in the race weekend fun!
Today’s tip is for the kids: Register your little ones for the Highlights Kids’ Run.
Hundreds of youngsters cross the finish line at our annual Kids’ Run; and this year, we’re honored to welcome the event’s new sponsor – Highlights for Children. Events range from the “Diaper Dash” to a full mile, with a variety of distances in between. Cost is only $10 per child, and each participant receives a medal, a pair of mittens, a free ticket voucher to see a Ringling Bros. performance at the Schottenstein Center in May and post-race refreshments. There’s a real Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey clown on hand, plus a “Clown Dress-up” Contest and plenty of educational displays.
Distances by age group:
- 12-14 years old: 1 mile
- 9-11 years old .8 miles
- 6-8 years old: .35 miles
- 4-5 years old: .15 miles
- 1-3 years old: Diaper Dash
