Tip 8:  Highlights Kids’ Run

As we put the final preparations in place for this year’s race, we’re sharing “26 Tips for 26.2 Miles” to make sure you’re ready to go on race day. Click here to read them all, or follow along on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

How excited are your children, grandkids, nieces or nephews about you taking part in the marathon or ½ marathon? There’s a simple way to corral that excitement and make the most of race weekend, even if you’re not one of the 19,000 competitors. Tip #8 is a chance to share in the marathon fun with our Highlights Kids’ Run on Saturday, October 17.

Tip 8 - Kids Run

Just like the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, the Highlights Kids’ Run will begin and end at North Bank Park. It will give children a chance to cross the same official Start and Finish Line used on Race Day!

It’s easy for kids of any age to get involved. Race opportunities include:

  • The diaper dash (ages one to three) will be 60 yards;
  • Four to five-year-olds will run .15 miles;
  • Six to eight-year-olds will run .35 miles;
  • Nine to 11-year-olds will run .80 miles.
  • Additionally, there will be a wheelchair division.

You can register online for this great experience.  Additionally, registration will take place at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon Health & Fitness Expo from Noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, and at the Highlights Kid’s Run Expo from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.
